Mother nature teaches us so much when we pay attention to her. Leaves and fruit fall to the ground and provides nourishment for the next season of life. Critters start preparing for the winter by stocking up on food. Some birds fly south for the winter. Certain bears take a nice long nap! Don't all of those sound like good ideas?
Before you know it, the crazy season will be upon us. Yes, it will be a wonderful time to celebrate many holidays, have festive times with friends and just enjoy the spirit of the season. But it also can bring a lot of anxiety and expectations. By anticipating the things you know are more than likely going to happen, you are better able to handle those unexpected surprises. Over the next few posts, I will be sharing a few ideas that will keep you one step ahead of the game. To your organized and prepared not-going-to-be-crazy-this-season-journey! ![]() Think of all the things that are square in your kitchen. cereal boxes, mac and cheese, juice boxes, crackers and pasta. Even in your fridge your gallon of milk is square. So why do you store your items in round containers? When you look at pantry and refrigerator storage online, how is it organized? Circular storage? Not usually. Simply by using square or rectangular storage bins, your items can be neatly arranged and, more importantly, found by family members. Check out your local dollar store for inexpensive storage. Even a shoe box will do. To get the most out of your pantry space, it just makes sense to go square. It maximizes the space in your (square) cupboards and the fridge too. Notice how this image shows how every inch of space is used. And because they are clear, everyone can see exactly what's inside. Of course if your storage is not clear or opaque, you would need to label. A piece of masking tape and Sharpie marker work great. For more ideas, find me on Pintrest. Just click the link below. ![]() How many pairs of shoes do you own? How many do you wear? How many have your kids outgrown? Does your entryway look like this? Have you been meaning to clear them out? Most of our closets are filled with shoes we rarely wear. Instead of tossing your unwanted shoes and clothing in the trash, donate those shoes to a worthy cause. Last year alone, Americans discarded more than 700 THOUSAND tons of footwear and apparel. When these items break down in our landfills, which can take many years, the toxic chemicals from the materials can leak into our soil, water supply, and atmosphere. Soles4Souls can save your shoes from early death by offering them a second chance at life, enabling individuals around the world to break the cycle of poverty. Since 2004, Soles4Souls has distributed over 19 million pairs to people in 127 countries. ![]()
If you have shoes you would like to donate, please contact me at FinallyFiled@gmail.com. I will be happy to arrange a time to pick them up.
![]() What does finished look like to you? Have you ever told your kids to "finish" cleaning their room? Are you :finishes the same? Completing a task is easy to put off. Sometimes it's even harder than starting it. Take this morning for example. I went to clear out the pile of shoes from the front entryway and brought them to my room. I was just going to dump them on the floor when I realized that I was only going to have to deal with them later. So I opened the closet, took out the shoe boxes and put them away. Now I am finished with that task. Clutter and confusion happen in small doses that add up to a big task. By completing the small tasks as you go, you free up your time and energy. Even the mental clutter of knowing you have to finish something goes away. Take the time to finish a task to completion. Even if it's something small, it's one more thing you can check off your list. |
