So just how does yesterday's message relate to organizing?  Lots of ways.  Some are obvious, but others may not be so apparent.

Buying less helps keep you maintain organization in three ways - physical stuff, emotional freedom and spiritual well being.  Let's take a look at these three areas

Physical Stuff
  • Less stuff in the house
  • Allows you to see what you own and shop your closet
  • Less waste by not having to throw away food items in the pantry and fridge - I hate that!
  • Money saver by simply buying less - you can put this away for rainy day emergencies
  • Less trips to the store to "save" money on sales
  • Less waste on gas by not going to the mall
  • Allows you to evaluate how to use what you already have. www.recipe.com is a great site.

Emotional Freedom
  • Fewer worries about what to do with the stuff you know you should get rid of
  • Less anxiety about over spending
  • Uncluttered spaces allows for mental clearing which can lead to more happiness
  • Allows you to feel control over your life
  • Allows time for evaluation on needs vs. wants in stead of impulse buying and regretting it

Spiritual well being
  • Allows more time for meditation and reflection
  • Allows discussion between family and friends which can result in better relationships by being with these people
  • Can make you feel good by simply not having too many "things" to worry about.  Instead you have the "space" to reflect on what is really important to you.
  • Can be a stepping stone to starting better habits which can lead, of course, to the physical clearing of your physical space.  Now what could be more of a spiritual awakening than that?

What other ways can buying less keep you organized?  Love to hear from you on your suggestions and how buying less has helped you in your life.

Buy less and get more!
