Have you noticed how many people have been, currently are or fighting off a sickness? Even with the flu vaccine, there are a lot of bugs going around. Fortunately there has been a lot of press on what I would call germ manners which has helped alleviate the spread of germs and viruses.
But if you are surrounded by people who have got it - and shared it - here's how to keep yourself healthy in seven simple steps
Wash your hands.
Yes, it's the same thing your mother told you and it's still the best idea to keeping germs away. Wash in warm water and make sure your hands are completely dry.
Keep disposable tissue handy
Remember when you sneezed and it you got boogers all over? Yeah, that was nice, right? If you cant get to your tissue in time, sneeze or cough into your elbow.
Get enough rest
Resting and, more importantly, sleeping allows your body to heal itself. Think about what would happen if you ran your car at 1oo mph every day. Could you do it? Sure, but eventually it will break down.
Laughter is the best medicine - Really!
Did you know that laughing can make you healthy? Levels of stress hormones like cortisol and epinephrine tend to decrease during bouts of laughter [sources: Brain, Pattillo and Itano]. These hormones can suppress the immune system, opening the floodgates to a host of infections, illnesses and general poor health.
Clean and clean again
Whether you are ill or have been exposed to someone who is, keeping things clean around the house is can help prevent germs from spreading. Think of remotes, cell phones, computers, keyboards, door handles, refrigerator door, bathroom area, faucets and tabletops. Here's some green cleaning solutions that work fabulous and are less expensive and toxic than what you buy at the supermarket.
Yes baby it's cold outside. But even a few minutes of fresh air a day can help refresh your mind and keep you sharp. Clear the Air
Change your air filters often. Dust irritates the nasal cavities and makes you more susceptible to catching a cold. Also consider plants and humidifiers during dry seasons. Remember to keep all humidifiers clean with a simple white vinegar and hot water solution. Rinse well.
