Top 10 easy DIY Self Advocacy Tips

Some days you don't have the energy to get out there and take on the world.  But that doesn't mean you should give up completely.  

​Even when you are having a day with pain or a day where you just want to hibernate, there are things you can do to take care of yourself.

  1. Stay hydrated - you probably can't drink too much purified water
  2. Get outside - walk around your backyard or sit on your steps and get some fresh air
  3. Sleep - and don't feel guilty about it.  Sleeping is one way your body heals itself
  4. Make allowances - it's ok to use paper plates on days like these.
  5. Stretch - as in one of those really big your whole body shakes kinda ones
  6. Read - Remember you said you were going to read that article/book? 
  7. Eating - try to eat whole foods, but don't disallow yourself a treat
  8. Journal - don't worry about what to write, just start writing and let flow into whatever and where ever it needs to.
  9. Write - send a card to someone in the mail
  10. Breathe - slow and easy telling yourself "Right now I am perfectly ok"

The little things can be just as important as the big things.
