Repeat buying of the same items in bulk can be a snap when you have your containers pre-labeled!   No more fumbling with getting the plastic bag open, searching for that golf pencil and writing don the bulk number on that oh so (not) handy piece of paper with the wire inside.  You know the ones.

A little prep work with labels or a Sharpie marker also helps you:

  • Save money - By pre-determining the amount of product you can fit, you won't purchase more than what you came for.
  • Teach life skills - Have an age appropriate child take the containers and fill.  Teaches reading, volume, budget.
  • Demonstrate organization- Allows kids and others to see how getting organized is not actually so hard.
  • Go Green -  By re-using the containers versus recycling or tossing, you are doing your part in recycling.
  • Be resourceful- Didn't buy that product today?  Just peel off the label and use for another item.

The next time you buy in bulk, write down both the item code and product name.  When you get home you can transfer this information to the container of your choice.  You don't need expensive storage containers to get organized.  As long as the containers are about the same size, shape and stackable, it will create an even look and feel.

Get Creative - Don't have containers and don't want to purchase any?  Use what you have.  A compostable baggie, a label and a sharpie marker work great.  Saves on space and easy to carry.
