List with a twist

Ever feel like all you do is make and check off to do lists?  Those lists get old and uninspiring pretty quickly.

Passing along a great tip from another Professional Organizer (I think from Susi McCune-SOS for Mess Distress).  It's a fabulous interactive and visual tool.

Take any manilla folder - or one that is inspirational to you. (I made these!)

  • Use 3x3 stickies and write your summer project wish list on each one. Use colored markers for different categories if you want.  (kitchen, garage, garden)
  • Add a project complete date.  It's ok if you don't get it completed by that date.  You can simply move it out.
  • Add the smaller items that need attention to keep  you motivated.  (call dad to set a date to plan, choose paint color, get dirt)
  • Plan project times in your calendar!  I can't stress this one enough.
  • Post each one on one side of the folder

As you complete each project or task, place on the other side of the folder!  Before you know it, the other side of the folder will be full. No matter how you decide to do it, make a paper or electronic list, use stickies or write on a white board, use what works for you.

Your one thing Wednesday challenge is to get your list written and in your calendar.  If you are anticipating needing help, get it in their calendar too!

Slow and steady wins the race!.
